Non-grocery bag programs
on the rise with major players
coming on-board.
Legislation is being implemented
worldwide to reduce & eliminate
single-use plastic bags.
The average consumer will use their
reusable bag at numerous locations, not
just the store they purchased it at
originally.
DID YOU KNOW: Single-use plastic bags don’t break down completely. They photo-degrade, becoming micro plastics that absorb toxins and pollute the environment around them.

THE
SITUATION
IN OUR
OCEANS
We have worked with many retailers across North America to ensure their bag programs are compliant with their local regulations, and offer cost-effective, eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic bags.
State lawmakers have introduced hundreds of bills over the last few years, a number of which include outright bans on plastic bags.
• Some bills place fees on plastic bag use.
• Other bills are in place to support bag recycling programs.
• States that have enacted statewide bans on plastic bags include: AL, CA, CT, DE, DC, ME, NJ, NM, RI, UT, VT
For the last two years, InStore Products Solutions has been in consistent contact with Environment Canada.
• A recently-passed federal ban on certain harmful single use plastic items includes plastic grocery check-out bags.
• The Federal Government are allowing for an eighteen-month transition period for retailers to become compliant by December 2023.
• The proposed legislation will be included in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act as criminal law.
